Constance in a party mood

With the proclamation of Fasnacht on January 6th, the hot phase of the foolish time started. "Ho Narro!" is the motto until February 22nd, when little girls and fools in traditional costumes parade through the alleys and streets of Konstanz. During the fifth season, the carnival stronghold attracts young and old from near and far to the streets and squares to celebrate, sway and sing together. A motley performance of lived tradition and special customs, accompanied by cheerful Guggen music of the fanfare trains. Just drop by and experience this special atmosphere for yourself!

The "Schmotzige Dunschtig" in Constance

The tradition, which goes back to the Middle Ages, reaches its climax with the "SchmotzigenDunschtig", in High German:  "Schmutziger Donnerstag ", February 16th, when the fools take over the city.

Early in the morning at 6 a.m. the fools guilds wake you up; Schools, companies and the town hall are liberated and the entire city center is transformed into a big carnival celebration.

It can be quite noisy in the city. It's good that you're staying at the Apartment-Hotel Konstanz. We are about a 15-minute walk from the old town of Constance and you can sleep peacefully with us and then throw yourself into the fray relaxed.
